I headed across the room to look for a snack but stopped right in the middle of the floor, and started jumping up and down like a two-year-old.
"I want an emu!"
He raised his eyebrows.
I couldn't stop.
"I want an elephant!"
Completely ridiculous ideas make not quite as ridiculous ones look even better.
"We will never have an elephant", he said. Matter of fact. (see, the emu has a chance)
But that seemed beyond ridiculous to me.
"What if we live in India someday? Then we might have an elephant."
"We will never have an elephant", he repeated.
"But think how the kids will laugh watching it splash around in the pool!"
He gave me that look, "What am I gonna do... drive it to work?"

What in the world are you thinking of getting? Turkeys? A camel? Goats?
Always with the suspense here.
I like the drive it to work idea. I bet an elephant could wade/swim through anything he needed it to in the spring and not require copious amounts of repair. Just a thought.
All of the above?
Ummm... Emu.
Didn't I say that? ;)
So cool! This is why my husband keeps me away from a home with a barn. I would so love an Emu and an elephant! :-) Except for maybe the clean-up part on the elephant. While we’re at it, I would like a llama too. Hee hee
Good luck!
Loved your husbands response! LOL!
What ARE you dreaming of?
Seriously? An emu?
That's great if you do, and think of the omelets you can make!
My, how your kitties have grown! So there's hope for the llama/turkeys/goats after all?? :)
Emu, yes. That would be fun.
I just spent the last several minutes watching various videos of those darn elephant babies. Thank you.
Emus are awesome. And I bet your alpacas would guard them. :)
An emu? Really? That's not something I've ever thought of getting.
I don't even know exactly what they're for. Meat? Massive eggs? Fun? ;)
I see you attract kitties, too. ;)
