Friday in random

Beans in the crockpot.

Not The Bean. That would just be wrong.

{not winter - July}

Banana muffins in the oven. I set the temperature to 350 degrees and it bounces to 450 and then 225. It's a wonder I manage to successfully cook anything in there. I've generally stopped complaining about it because shopping for a new one will be painful.

Cats in a pile. This is what they do when it feels like winter. Just outside the barn, in the sun, out of the wind. I'll never get a good picture of it, because they scatter when they hear the door. When the cat-heater is involved, it's similar to this:

catwarming
{imagine a couple more felines and you've got it}

Winter in North Dakota?

We've had days here and there that felt like winter, and most of one week with a couple inches of snow on the ground that looked like winter. Really, it's been a gorgeous November, December, and first part of January too. We've gone below zero (F) maybe twice. I finally gave up on my last mini-greenhousesometime in early December. Parsley, if you must know.

Overdressed in January:

sunny January day

Now that it finally feels to me that our unseasonably warm days might be over, and winter has possibly tried to settled in... this is still not bad for mid-January here. Not bad at all.

forecast

Selfish me wants to say, "We totally deserve this after the last three winters (and Spring flooding) we barely survived dealt with." But it's far from over yet. Or maybe the last few years have been so harsh that I've completely forgotten what winter can be like.

Internet in warp speed!

Last night we actually measured what we're getting with our Wildblue Satellite Internet. Yeah, that's right. I'm finally gonna come right out and say it. They're way over-subscribed and their service stinks. We should be getting 0.512 Mbps downloading and 0.128 Mbsp uploading. That's what we're paying for.

Guess what we actually have?

It doesn't matter if you don't even know what then numbers mean. It's still impressive. We measured at 0.17 Mbps downloading and 0.05 Mbps uploading. That's what we have.

But Monday! Oh, sweet Monday when our fiber optic is hooked up and we're set free from this pain... 20 Mbps glory that I can't even imagine!

Liar in confession...

Forgive me. I lied, and I'm pretty sure I knew it. This image is really my favorite of my best from last year.

Congrats on the Fiber Optic. We can't get it where we live (in Silicon Valley) because someone cut a bunch of the lines!

That is a sweet picture! Love the first one too.

She's too cute to be crockpot material.

We've had a distinct lack of snow here. Although, we're in the middle of a snowstorm right now. Love that playground shot. :D

And YAY!!! for faster internet! :D I remember going from dial-up to DSL. It was like a miracle! ;)

The cat heater!! I'm dying from hilarity of the image in my head of more kitties piled on! Best thing ever! I'm also laughing at the back and forth between sunny and cloudy. and then just Cold. And haha! you sound like me. In my head I go back and forth between which is *really* my fave from last year. It keeps changing. And hooray for faster internet! We upped ours when we moved. So glad. Also perhaps the longest comment ever. So sorry ;)

Hey there ladycakes! I've been meaning to drop by forever (still claiming new heights of disorganization as the reason for my poor blog visitation). LOVE Bean!!! Seriously.... what a little dollie! And her hair is getting so long!

I'm dying over the pic of her on the ladder. I'm telling you friend, I WILL figure out backlighting this summer, oh yes I will! I was out shooting today and had a lightbulb moment regarding backlighting/haze/and why everyone else's sunflare is prettier than mine. THE LENS. My 24-70 leaves an AWFUL sun flare....hello 9 million octagons scattering across my photo...but the 50mm 1.4? Yes please!! Got me a nice purdy sunflare like everyone else.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's!! xoxo

I keep going back and forth between, "we deserve a gentle winter" and "what will we have to go through to pay for this," too. The biggest perk of this winter by far is being able to send the kids out to play almost every day without fear of frostbite.

Your cat and dog are very sweet.

Hey, that's MY favorite! But I have told you that about a million times, I think. Or at least it feels like I have. Love the dog/cat pic. At first, I thought it was a dog with strangely deformed parts. I am glad you didn't subject The Bean to the slow cooker. She is just too cute for words!

A quick Hey back from SD. Absolutely love that last shot! The rest were pretty awesome too. I hear Alaska is keeping our snow which is okay by me. :D Have a wonderful week!
