The rooster is shooting blanks

Scavenger Hunt at Ashley's!

Bet you can't guess which two I took with my loyal old malfunctioning mess of a Canon Rebel. No guessing if you cheated and peeked!

Photographer friends, don't miss my big giveaway!

1. Emotion

Mother of the groom. And yes, I have the rights to post this photo. Doesn't she look young?

2. From a Flower's Point of View

flowers point of view

Can anyone tell me what these flowers are? They're along the side of our road.

3. Natural Frame

Red Rooster, Red Rooster. Only one chick out of fourteen eggs? For real? I don't think it's fair to blame the hens. What am I going to do with you?

4. Letters

I'm afraid this is going to make you all insanely jealous. I'm sorry.

That classy thing is on the side of our house. As in, covering up the space where a window used to be.

Sometimes I wonder if we could get any more white-trash around here. But I'm sure it's entirely possible.

5. Bliss

Summer. Bedtime. Playing with the bus for just a few more minutes.

Just enough available light. Capturing her at this exact moment.

Bliss.

Wild Anemones are the flowers. I have tons of them on our hill and gardens.

That last shot is gorgeous - I love your letters shot and I also love the first shot. I can't even tell which photos were taken with the Rebel. But then again, I'm going through like 80 posts so I'm not looking too closely. :)

Thank you LindaW! I was thinking I might dig a few up, or at least collect some of the seed. They're so simple but so pretty

Holy smokes! These are really, REALLY good! Your very first photo has an awesome, photo journalistic feel. Your first flower photo has a great balance of light and shadow, the sunlight on the edges is captivating and makes me feel like I'm there soaking up the sun (minus the bug bites)!
I love the shot of your proud red rooster- everything about it says "classic farm yard!"
and I am positively green with envy over your letters! The yellow, red and gray/blue are so perfect that you could sell prints. I'll be your first costumer.
Last but certainly not least, the Bean b&w is breathtaking- the contrast is perfect- dramatic but not overwhelming. The light leads me right around the image and back to her baby face again- I love everything about it. What a brilliant series!

AS ALWAYS, my friend, fabulous job! Loved the Emotion shot...she looks really young! And your flower shot has perfect lighting!

Love your photos, love your sense of humor. Fantastic. First flower POV and the bedtime shot are my faves, but all are a joy to see. Hope that rooster is just being put off by warm weather.

If you ever figure out what those flowers are make sure you post it. I have a bunch in my flower garden and have yet to figure out what they are. Love teh pictures, they are great.

Thanks for asking about the flowers! I've been picking those since I was a little girl, and really, really need to get my girl out in the ditches to admire them with me soon! And now I know what they are called!

Im with with the others who are too afraid to guess which 2 were taken with the rebel. (You're still shooting with that thing? - just proof that you are the one that is that great, not just your camera.)

I love Bliss, it is perfect. Wow.
Just for curiosity which camera are you using now? I still have a Rebel, but want to upgrade for 7D or 5D MarkII, big step, not sure what to do.

Jess said...

Thanks everyone!

The two photos that were shot with my old Rebel are the first (back-lit) of the flowers, and the peeling letters on the side of my house. (Also the hazy superhero in the next post)

Valeria, I upgraded to the 5DII. If you can, wait for the 5DIII with the improved focusing system.
