You accidentally kneel on a dragonfly.

And then you sit on a thistle.
You let your hair down for a few self portraits.
Then you step on two of your hair clips. This frustrates you immensely not because they're broken, but because it means you're leaving more than footprints behind. It's impossible to get all those little smashed bits of plastic out of the earth.
The next morning, your two year old Bean greets you with a look of horror while pointing at your face and squealing, "Mommy! Owie!"
Sure enough, you look in the mirror and find a wood tick attached to the side of your face. You think to yourself, "Really? On my face? Am I still dreaming?"
But you know how dreams go.

Sometimes they're weird, but perfect.

Sometimes you remember the details.

And sometimes you don't.

absolutely beautiful!
i think the tick and the broken clips and the thistle (ouch!) and the poor injured dragonfly were worth it...although the thought of that tick freaks me out a little...okay, a lot.
The photos are stunning, no matter what it took to get them :)
I verbally said WOW when I got to the end! Serious amazing work! I love the last one of you and the spider. So gorgeous.
And again with the grass.... I am SO jealous!
I love the first photo. Ok I love all of the photos but the first one is my fav! The lighting is amazing. They are all beautiful.
Gorgeous! I can’t decide which one is my favorite, all are just wonderful! (I hope that it was truly a dream that a wood tick was on your face! Not fun at all!)
I actually had a dream that involved ticks the other day and it gave me the heebie-geebies when I woke up. The only thing that I remember of it was little creepy-crawlies running around on my arm....{{shivers}}
Jess, this was an adventure and very enjoyable, great shots, as always ;)
So beautifully written and captured.
The pictures are beautiful, but I hope the tick was truly a dream. Those things freak me out!
I had a dream that I was serving ham to my guests only to find out that they're Jewish and couldn't eat it. What's that about?? :)
I hate wood ticks!
What Alissa said.
...and Ashley.
:)
I hope that having a tick on your face was just a (not very nice) dream!!
That last shot is so cool... but it seriously gives me the full body shudders. ;) So creepy. So real.
Love the last shot of you. :)
These are seriously gorgeous. Such amazing light, wow! x
may the gorgeous stuff have been really and the icky stuff all a dream ;)
Dreamy though? That describes these shots!
Stunning. The photography, it takes my breath away. The light is just so very ... very! And the words... You can tell that you feel more at home here (on this blog) I'm so very happy that I came by tonight. You inspire me! Thank you.
I have a photography crush on you Jess. The dragonfly picture is the best I've seen all week long!
Your images {and your writing!} have such poetic beauty. How do you do it?

i'm so glad i read your blog.
That was a really fun post!
Just lovely, Jess.
And yesterday, I pulled a tick out of my ear. It was stuck there; I don't know how it got there.
Wow - I love this whole post. Even the pictures are dreamy!
