I almost almost named her Volta, on a friend's suggestion. But when my clever and sarcastic sister (that should really narrow it down for those of you who know us) mentioned the resemblance to Mimi from The Drew Carey Show, well, I had to admit she was really on to something.
See? Can't deny it.

I may not personally own a curling iron or even a thing of mascara, but I am aware that eyeshadow is not the same as earlobe coloring. Still... you see the resemblance, yes?
I had every intention of writing about her months ago, but you know how good intentions are, especially when combined with a white frizzy chicken. And besides, I had better things to write about, like tiny roosters gettin' it on with large hens.
But yesterday. Yesterday I thought Mimi was dead.
It is not easy for an animal to fool me into thinking it is dead. I have quite a bit of experience with living (and dead) critters. Somehow she managed it, though. I even turned to the dog (not that she cared), and said, "Oh my goodness. She's dead!". Maybe Mimi was in some sort of pre-egg-laying hypnotic trance. I still don't understand it. All I know is she scared me. Scared me bad. Because I only have one Mimi, and please don't take her away.

Then I realized I had never really blogged about her.
And I just can't blog about Mimi if she's dead.
But she's not.
So you get this. A completely meaningless and pointless post, with no real valuable information (except maybe for the bit about her smashingly pretty blue earlobes - which Arnold himself has finally noticed).
You're welcome.

Yes! I see the resemblance.
Her beak appears to have a blue tinge to it too, no?
Volta huh? Glad you went with Mimi. It gives her a certain air of elegance. Well maybe not but I like it more than Volta.
: )
Yes, she does look like Mimi! I'm so glad she's alive and well, and that Arnold noticed her! (I think you should hatch an egg from that combo. What a crazy chick it would be!)
She's so pretty and fluffy! And clean, too. I've never seen a clean white chicken. The white on my Silver Laced Wyandottes is always a tad yellow.
I was glad to hear Volta mentioned as a name finalist :) But I DO see the resemblance to Mimi! I'm glad you went with that! She is so cute (and I don't say that about chickens very often - "pretty", but not "hilariously cute").
Wow! What a really gorgeous bird. And an uncanny resemblance. :)
*SNORT*! Mimi!! Bwahahahahaaa!!
That's incredibly awesome. I used to love that show. :D :D
I'm so glad Mimi is fine.
And I'm still jealous. She's so pretty. :)
Ha! Totally see it.
I'll bet she lays some gorgeous blue eggs! I'm
A bit rusty on my poultry breeds, but I think she's a silkie? So happy your Mimi is alive and well.
I love your "meaningless and pointless posts"! They always make me laugh!
She is very pretty that Mimi!
Yes, I see it too! I have a buff silkie I just adore too so I hear you when you say "don't take her...!"
Yay! Arnold noticed!
She's pretty! glad she's not dead.
Oooh Arnold noticed? Was there a little giggity giggity boom boom action in the hen house?
Ewww. Why did I say that? I'm gross.
This line: have quite a bit of experience with living (and dead) critters.
made me instantly think of "mousicle" yes yes... you have more than enough experience. And you blog about it. Which I adore, but I also adore the fact that you love mimi so much that you just had to blog about her.
And post pretty fluffy pictures of her, too.
You make me smile.

Ack! My comment didn't post. It was profound and witty, too. "Mimi" is PERFECT. And so glad that Arnold has finally found a good fit. ;)
P.S. have I told you I'm lovin' your project 52? I am!!
Holy creamy background Batman!!!!
GEEZ Jess.... what lens are you using here? I must give you an "ACK!!!" right back - LOL! :-) ABSOLUTELY beautiful!!!!
That would be the old 70-200. Wide open. Zoomed out to 200 dangerously close to the minimum focus distance. ;) I live a little on the wild side sometimes.
LOL - I once tried playing dead in a hospital. Not my wisest move. Sounds like Mimi is just a drama queen. She wants more face time.
