7:42am
So tough to stop playing long enough to eat your breakfast. Such is life.

8:46am
One of the boys has been begging to do this experiment.

The time is an hour off because we've been pushing our clocks ahead gradually all week. The Daylight Savings change is too hard on the kids (one in particular) otherwise. Today we ran the full hour ahead, which was much less confusing for this mom rather than the odd minutes we were off the rest of the week.
10:03am
Already a gorgeous day outside. The beginning of what is supposed to be amazing weather this week.

When the sun is this lovely, these birds sometimes toss a wing up in the air and flop a leg to the side, to soak up as many rays as is poultry possible. And they don't care one bit how ridiculous it looks.
10:46am
Okay. Not only did we have sun... we also had mud. Lots of mud. Did I mention glorious?

11:51am
Just part of a busy builder's pre-lunch project.

1:13pm
An exercise in symmetry?

2:48pm
So I gave the kids mini-marshmallows and toothpicks and told them to go crazy.

3:45pm
This. Wielding two and a half pounds worth of camera with my right hand. Holding a curious little Bantam upside down with my left hand. Dangerously close to my minimum focus distance, which calculates generously to a depth of field of less than half an inch. *dramatic curtsy*

Didn't bother to sharpen for web, but heck yeah, I nailed my focus.
4:39pm
Sad story here. I'd like to pull out my free-pass "damn thyroid excuse" please. I'll be spending some money on seeds this year, and I bought a nice plastic storage box so I don't end up with soggy seed packets again.

6:43pm
Squishy mud + crazy jumping + snow pants + little girl who wasn't going to waste time going to the actual bathroom when she can just do it in her pants. Clothesline. Fantastic day.

1) All these pictures make me happy. 2) A picture including seedsavers seeds makes really happy! I just found out that my local co-op sells them and I picked up a bunch today!
Goodness, I don't even know where to start! So many beautiful photos. That one of the sun-bathing chickens, CRACKS me up! They are funny little creatures. Looks like you had a fabulous day!! Thanks so much for stopping by :)
A little at a time? That's a good idea... being as it's now 1:45am?? Gah. I need to go to bed. ;)
Love the chicken shot.
And the mud shot.
And the kitty shot is particularly awesome.
*High five* for the nailed focus! :D
Laundry on the line. In the sunshine. *squee*! :D Wet pants... not so much. ;)
These are FANTASTIC!! What a lovely family. I have snowpants hanging to dry right now, too. :)Thanks for visiting my blog!
Wow, for a moment I thought that cat photo was fake or something (it's THAT amazing). Anyway, I love all of the projects/creations/activities your kids took part in. Great set!
Fun post! I love the cats!!
The little-bit-at-a-time-time-change? I love it, and I've actually done it before when the older was littler. Great minds or something, right? :) Sunny loves the cat picture and all the chicken pics, too, but she said the "funny white one is missing!". Oh, and we had a similar pants problem yesterday that ended up with me washing snowboots....
love. Love. Love. LOVE. LOVVVE!!!
Like every single picture. And yes you nailed the focus. NAILED IT! And the mud picture... so cute. So real! And the marshmallows & toothpicks (uh genius) and I can guess which kiddo is having a hard time with the time switch... and... I need to buy that dr. seuss book. AND we're considering growing a small veggie garden... and.. And you crack me up.
And why can't you live in Michigan?!
Very, very fun 10! :) Alright - let's challenge each other. Next month, I'd better see your face in at least one shot. And next month *I* am going to challenge the bokeh out of myself. Your bantam shot is definitely something to be proud of. Nice work!
And cold mud makes me crazy. I don't mind cold if there's clean snow and I don't mind mud if it's warm enough to hose them off, but cold mud? yuck! good for you letting them get all filthy :)
That cat picture is amazing...and I love clothes on the clothesline!
Oh goodness, your day was much more interesting than mine! The chicken shot cracked me up. And hey, free-pass thyroid excuse, um, I can relate. The cat shot is quite amazing. Love how blue the sky looks behind them. Looks like a pretty lovely day, my friend.
Looks like a great day indeed.
I didn't know chickens did that in the sun. I thought it was just me.
Yay for mud season! (I think) My boy is already up to 3 or 4 changes of clothes in one day because of the wet and mud.
Changing the clock a little at a time is a great idea! But my brain is too numb from a number of things to have survived a week of calculating what time it really is.
Looks like a glorious laid back day to me. Wonderful! I feel like I had too many errands to do today... too much running around. How wonderful it would be to be able to just ... be.
So glad you managed a 10 on 10. Love your chicken sunning, she looks hilarious! Love your pretty bantam too, great focus indeed! What a creatively busy day you had!
Mark was looking at this post with me. He was wishing he were one of your boys. The experiment and marshmallow creatures were exciting for him to see! I do love the cat photo. Can you make a blog post of all photos of cats? Thanks!
crazy great focus on your little red girl!
i have been hanging out with chickens lately and i just can't wait to have some of my own someday. damn pooping things, if i could just train them to poo in one spot of the yard instead of all over... :D
love all your pics!!! i want to spend a week at your house.
your mud splattered daughter picture is brilliant- love it!
Love all the pics, but the mud-covered Bean is priceless. Definitely one I can see being viewed again and again in the future.
Thank you everyone. Shooting a 10 on 10 is exhausting, it's nice to hear when I deliver something worth commenting on!
I love your full-day-photo sessions! I bet it's very exhausting! I'm trying a once a day photo on Instagram for March and even that is difficult! lol!
Great set...my favorites are the little fort and the cats on the fence!
