How do they all get in the house anyway?
And why did I throw them away? My chickens would have loved that snack.
We had some rain last night. I wanted to get a certain picture of the moon, but I settled for some lightning instead.

My foot hurts because our Red Rooster went after the Littler Brother. Other than a bit of emotional damage, we're all fine.
I have a little girl who likes to stack rolls of toilet paper into tall towers. I have kittens who like to shred toilet paper. It's an interesting combination. Her record height is nine rolls, which involves a step stool and a chair. Her record when the kittens are around is... maybe three if she's lucky.
We always say our Little Bean is a tough cookie. On multiple occasions I've hollered at her brother (the one who happens to be twice her age) to get off of her, only to look around the corner in time to watch her put him in a headlock and take him down.
Yesterday she got caught up on her vaccines. Instead of transforming into a wailing, tear and snot flinging wild little animal after it was over... she simply gave the nurses a (very) dirty look and said, "Hey! That piece bite me!" And that was it.
Then she had a few drops of blood taken from her finger, and it went down in pretty much the same way.
Yeah, she's tough.
Her brother that witnessed it stood there in awe. Her other brother, when he heard the story of how she didn't cry, said "Maybe they killed her?" with a sort of hopeful tone to his voice.
I entered the I Heart Faces photo contest last week through flickr instead of here. The challenge was "Beautiful Eyes", and I figured everyone and their sister would enter. And they did. There was almost a record number of entries, over 1200.
You can imagine how shocked and honored I am to have made 8th, when there were so so many gorgous entries. So many more deserving than mine.

That cutie is my cousin's little guy Charlie. In the midst of his Great Grandfather's full-honor military burial ceremony, there he quietly sat with his big brown eyes taking it all in.
So, it's just a boring Tuesday around here. And I think that's about all I have to say.

You placed darlin Jess because you take awesome pictures, and this one is no different.
I love tough kids. I love cry-babies, too (don't get me wrong) I have one of each. I bet you can't figure out which one? lol... I like that she gave a dirty look instead of crying. Hilarious!
And what a moody picture. Great storm shot.
How are you doing otherwise? Are you happy that school has started over there?

Congrats on being in the top ten out of 1200. That's impressive and it is a very deserving photo.
You don't even know how to be boring...seriously. You start writing and I smile. Keep doing that. I like it. And congrats on the picture. I didn't even bother entering but you rocked it out!
I love this post :)
I love love love the swirling clouds in the moonlight. Awesome. And congrats on the recognition on IHF. Of course, they're only recognizing something that we've known all along, that you rock! I'm in Banff today hanging with Koreen and we've spent more than a few minutes talking about you and your mad photography skills. Wish you were here!
That lightning shot is quite something, Jess. I love it.
And your little girl is too hilarious. Maybe she's like her momma?
And I'm so glad you shared your recent i heart faces success story! Placing 8th out of 1200 is quite something. Good for you!
I was absolutely in awe over your first shot. WOW!
Laughed at your little Bean!
And can definitely see why you were in the top ten!!
Only eighth? Hmph. I think it's first rate, myself.
What is it with brothers? My Dad tells the story that he electrified the hand rails of the stairs to his room, so sister wouldn't bother him. When she was summarily zapped, and tattled, his line of defense was something to the effect, well, she is still breathing, right?
(As you can imagine, this didn't go over well...)

Congrats on your photo! I adore that shot ;D And your little gal IS indeed one tough cookie. I still want to cry when they prick my finger - OUCHIE!!!!
LOVE the lightning shot! And for real laughed out loud at the "maybe they killed her" comment. Bwahaha.
Congrats again on the IHF pick! It IS a fabulous shot.
Thanks everyone.
Colleen: No moon! Lightning only.
Your foot hurts? XD Playing a little rooster football?
Dirty looks... yes, Bean and Hannah will get along fine when we finally can meet irl. ;)
I'm so excited for you! :D Yay top ten!
Jess, I always forget how you just CRACK me up! I'm dying! A "hopeful tone" to his voice...that "piece bit me"???? Oh man, I'm rolling on the floor!
Your cloud photo is so beautiful it almost looks like a painting, so swirly and gorgeous, and your 8th place photo out of 1200??? WOW. That's incredible. Great job!
I don't at all think that was a boring Tuesday!
Insanely beautiful picture. Love the entire landscape and mood of the shot.
And little Charlie? Such a beautiful set of peepers!
I rather think I adore your tough girl!
Congrats on placing in the top 10. That's awesome! I'll get back to shooting pictures for fun one day soon...
Knowing who the kid is satisfied my nosy streak. And knowing where the shot was taken hit my sentimental spot. That picture has captured the mood of that day pretty well, I think.
Congrats on the contest entry! That is a gorgeous photo!
