The You Capture challenge this week is "cold". Cold is all relative here.
Do I show you my best photo first or my worst one? Maybe chronological order?
First I wandered out to the end of the

1/5000 f/2.8 ISO 50
It's only the end because they don't plow past our place in the winter.
Then I wandered back over to our shop.
Cold door. Cold handle. Cold shadow.

A

1/640 f/32 ISO 3200
I was using my big lens. Twenty three elements makes for a lot of sun flare (and weight too).
Then I heard some awful racket in the barn and headed back that way.
I guess she just laid an egg and the world needed to know.

See the fog from her breath? Cold. And I didn't sharpen that photo at all, just sayin'. The big lens kicks chicken butt once again.
If you're curious, I braved -24F to take pics of the moon that I posted HERE. Now that was cold.

Wow, I love the picture of the chicken! I hope you had a cup of coffee/tea to warm up after you came inside!
The sun flare is a great shot but the chicken wins for me too! Great photos.
Yikes it does look cold there. Even the sun flar picture looks cold. You sure have a pretty chicken. :-)
I LOVE the chicken breath! :)
Gives me the giggles! (And it's an awesome picture as well.)
I hope it warms up to, I don't know, 20above?
-24 is crazy cold chica. The moon shots were PERFECT though. I would chance hypothermia for those kind of captures. Ok so I looked up the lens I would need for a 1/640 f/32 ISO 3200 (lens envy!) AND I 'bout laid an egg. Holy moly! But man oh man that shot couldn't be more artistic.
Dang- I love your eye.
In case anyone else is wondering, I took all of those with the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS (version I) and 5D mark II. Worth every penny!
Finally catching up on your posts! And such great shots here Jess. But you already know that! I LOVE the chicken one, and also love how you clarified that you did not sharpen it! And f/32?? How big is that!?!?!?!? Like the size of this period (.)? Crazy...
