Focus

The auto-focus is messed up on my camera. It's front-focusing.

It's so frustrating.

Most of the images I've been posting lately were manually focused. This is just plain wrong. It shouldn't have to be done. It also means it was nothing more than dumb luck that I nailed the focus on Mr. Underwear's beautiful eyeball.

It's also frustrating to no end when I, myself, can't stay properly focused.

If I forget a load of laundry, I have to stay up late to get it done. If I lose track of our pantry and freezer, meal planning becomes frantic and stressful. If we don't have the boys pick up their stuff on some sort of semi-regular basis, it spills over into every room in the house. If I don't immediately fold the clean clothes that are piled high on the couch, the little Bean will put it back in the dirty clothes hamper. She's such a helpful little thing.

Since my camera can't focus to save it's life, I've been playing with my lensbabyand it's super-wide angle attachment (which allows macro capabilities). It has to be manually focused anyway. It looks bizarre, with that short piece of wobbly hose attached to the camera.

When things are properly focused, it makes all the difference.

I'm trying to remember, also, that if my house is a disaster because I spent the entire day playing with my babies... my focus is right where it needs to be.

Clean clothes are just a luxury anyway, right?

Linking up with Macro Monday

I thought the same as you did about posting a dandelion picture - everyone has been there and done that, but, you know what, I don't care, because they just make great macro subjects. As you have shown so well here.

I think just as women we have to focus our attentions on lots of things at one time, it is hard to focus just on one thing at a time. Great analogy with your camera focus, it has given me something else to focus on!!
Dandelion puff balls make great things to focus on!

It's a good thing I'm ADD. I don't focus on anything ;) Sorry your AF is messed up. Can you get it fixed?

I am too focused most times. With taking photos, I have to work on this, being new to this hobby.

What does front facing mean?

Liz, "front focusing" means the camera is consistently focusing at a closer distance than where it's been told to focus. Very bad.

Your last line hit me dead in the face just now. If my house is a mess from playing with my babies, then my focus is perfect. Bam. I just got done scrubbing my kitchen floors on my hands and knees. I used my "nap time break" to do this, but perhaps I should get on my hands and knees and play blocks next. :) thanks for the good reminder.

You really are trying to get me to buy that Lensbaby aren't you??? Nice macro, great message.

Love the whole focus theme - so hard to balance all of the mommy tasks - which I really need to back to since it's naptime. And then because you're SO RIGHT, I'm gonna focus on playing with my babies when they wake up!

And ugh - what do you do about front focusing? Every time I use my flexible spot auto focus, I'm tempted to wonder if maybe my camera is suffering from the same ailment. For me, it's not as big a deal because I will never achieve the same shallow depth of field with my camera as you can. But it is still quite likely that it's just me.....

Your picture is amazing.

Hey who needs clean clothes when you're working with your darling chickens? They love "your" smell and tend to mess up a clean newly-wash you. I should know. I'm the keeper of Heaven and all things messy and nice.

Btw, your shots are awesomely focused! ;-)

A camera that doesn't focus is just wrong! But I do love a lens baby and I love this shot.

Beautiful photo! I'll have to confess that after four nights up with a sick baby, I'm tucking him off to bed for a nap, putting the middle kid on the school bus and spending an afternoon focusing on me for a change. :) Just me, a cup of coffee, a book and maybe a nap.

Oh cool! I didn't know you had a lens baby. Have you posted pics on your blog with it? I'm so behind I might have missed them...but would love to see. :-)

I just sneezed because that picture is so realistic and I'm 100% allergic.

Don't worry though I covered my mouth so you didn't get my germs.

GREAT SHOT!
