Tough cookie

This is the age that I fall head over heels in love with my babies. Every time.

{almost eighteen months}

She looks so very sweet and calm and girly, doesn't she?

Don't be deceived.

Today she sat on one of her brothers until he cried. If I were to tell the full truth, she did also smack him with a weapon of opportunity, which skewed the battle in her favor.

It happens all the time. They like to wrestle with her, but she is one tough cookie and dishes it right back. It makes me laugh, even if I have to clean up the pieces when it's over.

Also: f/1.4 devours light like I cannot believe.

Also: October is nearly upon us (for real) and the new Facing Myself linky will go up on Saturday.

Also: I cringe every time I have to look at that out-of-season plum flowers header, but I'm starting to think it might be in-season again by the time I get around to changing it.

Also: In an incredibly strange twist of fate, we still haven't had frost in our mysterious sunken swamp garden. Not yet. I even managed the impossible and grew two red peppers... but even more bizarre than that, I didn't take a single picture of either one.

Also: I had some prints made at Wal-Mart. Yeah, I know. Believe me. I KNOW. While I expected that they were going to be bad, I didn't have a clue they were going to look that nasty. I was actually hoping for something that looked unprofessional, so I guess I got what I wanted. Yuck.

Also: Just kidding. I'm done!

I love all of your "also's". :)

I had to get some photos printed up at Walmart recently. Some of them were okay, but a few had color issues. It's been so long since I've had pictures actually printed that I hardly know where to go anymore.

So you're saying that Walmart printing ruins photos? That's good to hear! I was thinking all my photos were crap! Whew!

Those eyes!! Love them! :D The bokeh on her hair makes it.

I don't use Wal-Mart to print pics... I use Zehrs. ;) Which is a grocery store here. I've never noticed any colour issues. But, I also haven't developed any in over a year. ;)

Koreen, you crack me up.

This is why I don't think I will sell high-res digital files if I ever go pro. What opinions do you guys have on that? There is no comparison between consumer printing and pro lab printing. Once you point out the differences, even an untrained eye can easily see it.

Also: There are frogs singing in my basement.

this is cute jess...also, go to snapfish.com or yorkphoto.com...i think they do a good job in printing, better than walmart and you can do it from home! saves a lot of stress!

HAHAHA! My 18th month old beats up the big kids all.the.time. Like just last night... he gave them the beat down! There was biting and drumsticks involved, and big kids crying...

{I don't sell discs to my clients for that very reason! But when I give them to close friends, I always recommend Mpix.com, though I use someone else when I order pro prints...}

also? I really love that word and use it too much, so that totally cracked me up!

Oh how our little girls are sooo alike! I wonder who would win in a tussle? Miss Weapon of Opportunity or the Tiny Tornado. Well, 2 big brothers apiece, that's hard to say.

Wow, she's GORGEOUS!!!!

This was fun and random. I loved it!

Also: you can't use the word too often.

Also: I have always printed my photos off at walgreens and I REALLY have NO CLUE where to print of real nice pics. FYI.

Also: crickets in your basement?!?

Ah, my friends! I never intended this to be a "where to print your photos" discussion. I rarely print, but when I do I use a professional lab. As in, not a department store or a grocery store or any of the run of the mill online places mentioned above, but a real professional lab that a real professional photographer would use. I have lofty goals, what can I say. Otherwise for a plain old consumer photo lab, I've heard great things about mpix.com (as Brooke also mentioned above) although I've never used them myself.

Also: No, Alita, FROGS singing in my basement. Tiny frogs. And they're very loud.

Love 18 month-olds! They are adorable and a handful all at the same time.

You may not have wanted your post to lead into photo developing inquiries, but I would also like to hear what professional photo lab you do use on occasion, because I seriously have no clue on this one.

So the pictures are loveable...but I had no idea that walmart photos really did suck that bad. I used snapfish recently and was pleased. I guess that'll teach ya!

*Gasp* No pictures of the red peppers!?!?! Just joking! I hope you enjoyed them another way (eating them!) The few that I had turn red also got rotten before they turned completely red.

If you were to go pro (which you totally should - I would drive up and have you take pictures of my family), my thoughts on selling your customers a disc of hi res photos are that more and more people are looking for that in a pro photographer. They want to be able to get prints at any time and are choosing photographers who offer that option. But I totally understand your rationale for not wanting to.

Either way, I'll just keep enjoying your posts!

My little guy is 18 months too. He only has the cat to beat up though. Although, I hear he beats up Daddy quite a bit too.

Hannah's going to be just like your little Bean! I see it in her eyes.

Are the frogs still singing in your basement?
