I had a rough week. Lately it seems like all my boys do is fight. All day long. And it seems like all I do is yell at them.
The little bean is perpetually in "search and destroy" mode. It's one thing after another.
She snuck off with every shoe she could find and threw them behind the dryer. With the shoe project complete, her dresser called to her, she answered, and emptied the whole darn thing. Then she took her brother's banana (it might as well have been the end of the world). The other brother left the bathroom door wide open and, well, use your imagination. Next, she grabbed the CF card (from my camera) which was attached to the laptop which I thought was safely out of her reach. When I took it from her, she unplugged the laptop instead.
That was all within a period of about ten minutes.
When I picked her up to say "Why, girl?", she latched onto my arm with her five big teeth and would not let go.
Another bruise.
Beyond that, yesterday she unplugged the fridge at least five times, and I had to extract her from the dishwasher at least twice. I think we have finally secured the refrigerator plug.
It just doesn't stop.
Our house is a disaster zone. There are dishes all over the kitchen, piles of clean laundry all over the living room, dirty towels on the bathroom floor.
I am completely exhausted.
But we're all healthy (although the bean is cutting some gigantic molars) so who am I to complain.
{sigh}
Oh yes, my one photo.
Even though the light is horribly harsh, and technically this isn't a great photo, it is my favorite of the whole entire week.
It's my favorite because of the sweet calm of the moment. It is a perfect capture of childhood here on the farm in summer. Boys joyfully exploring together, and flattening a path through alfalfa that is already so tall. It was a warm, windy day. They had just crashed their kite and were moving on to the next big thing.
There is another photo that I also really, really like... with the abandoned tractor in focus in the foreground, and a blurry exploring boy disappearing into the alfalfa in the background. But at the moment I like this one of the two of them better.

Oh friend... your week sounds about like mine! But I so LOVE your photo. Reminds me of when I was little... except we played in the woods instead of tall grass :)
Do they sell Benadryl where you live? You need the Costco size!
That was the perfect title of your post, which focused on that image that certainly, judging by your description, doesn't depict your current reality.
I AM kidding about the Benadryl. But wow, you need a break.
Oh the life a mommy photographer. I thouroughly enjoyed your story because it reminds me so much of my life!! haha. (minus the must have photo) that part might put me over the edge.. :)
Keep your head up..these days are trecherous, however, the provide us with many memories, not to mention great writing material. Keep up the good work friend.
My baby girl doesn't bite... much. ;) She does like to pinch, though. I've got bruises all over my arms and... other places.. ;) to prove it.
I was exhausted just reading through your day!
But, your picture is lovely. And peaceful. :)
That is so very sweet. Thanks for sharing a peaceful moment of your day!!
Oooooh, I think G is in the same "search and destroy" stage too- although I thought that subsequent children were supposed to be better because they have older sibs to help keep them occupied. Great! Oh, and the biting? Ouch! G doesn't outright bit on the arm or whatever- he waits until we're cuddling on the couch, with him climbing all over me. And then he takes a nice chomp into my stomach fat. Ow, ow, OW! Oh well, guess it feels good on his teeth- turkey!
Anyways, LOVELY photo! Much better than mine- oh wait, I was very naughty and didn't pick up my camera at all this week, believe it or not. That never happens. Except when we're getting ready to move apparently.
Would love to see the other shots you mentioned. They sound gorgeous!
I have said it before and I will say it again.
Sometimes, I like my superstars a whole lot better in pictures than in real life!
Oh, dear... that age is "fun."
The picture is sweet.
I'm so sorry you had such a bad week.
That's a really sweet picture! It's a good thing they're cute, right?
I've got something for you over on my blog. Come and check it out!
Hmmm, sending hugs to you friend and hoping that you wake tomorrow to start a fresh new day...and that the kiddos will all get along and not test your patience....and that my friend, is exactly what I said to myself tonight as I laid mine down to sleep! By the way not sure what's going on with my mail but didn't see an email from you yet???
Uh, I know I shouldn't, but I was laughing out loud at this. Mean, I know!!! It is just so relateable (is that a word?)
Ughhhhh - the joys of toddlerhood!
Good luck and I hope for a better day for you today!
LOVE the photo!!!
i absolutely LOVE the title of this to go with the picture. i have a few photos myself that fit into this description.
great!
Holy wow I love that picture!
So, about the fighting... Kaishon and his friends fight so much. It is the most crazy thing. Gary told me boys like to fight. Who knows? : )
Oh, it's one of those weeks, huh? Especially coming off such a hectic week last week, you must be seeing things at this point!!! I send you calm and peaceful vibes :) and if it helps at all, Bear tried to ride Trot today even though he knows he shouldn't because of the cast and I only saved the poor dog in the nick of time and he accidentally dumped milk all over his library book. Sometimes I don't think it's so much what they do, but the brief span of time they do it in!!!
I don't know how you do it. I would get seriously *mad* with hi-jinks like that going on!
By the way, I love this photo. Technically, it's just fine. Very cheerful and cheering. The colors, the sunshine, everything. Love it. =)
Lady, you're SOOOOO not alone. I feel like a keep my voice raised more than calm these days...the boys seem to argue of every little thing lately. ARGH! And the curious toddler...well, Braden is 3and I'm still having to put things up WAY high. Ha! Good luck mama and NICE SHOT. Peace is truly a sweet capture!
