We didn't pick the flowers

Procrastination is starting to pay off handsomely around here. I might even have to entertain the thought (ahem) of making it a habit.

fresh picked

You see... there were these flowers, on these plants, that didn't make it to the garden but ended up potted in Styrofoam cups in the house, because we sort of had a terrific Spring flood.

I'm finding that too much water is a great excuse for a lot of things.

The plants have been happy ever after underneath gro-lights in our back entryway. When I noticed the flowers, I knew they needed to be picked off. Really, I knew. These are going to be outdoor plants, not indoor plants. But like so many things around here, it just didn't happen, which meant that something else happened.

Because we didn't pick the flowers...

strawberries

My kids got to pick a very special treat for breakfast this morning.

And yes, whenever we get around to getting these tucked into a new home outside, I will pick every flower and fruit off of them. I know...

You Capture - Flowers
KinderGARDENS week 6

And!

Those of you who are interested in photography might want to check back again soon, because I have a teensy little giveaway coming up that may just slightly interest you. Something small and insignificant, like a lifetime membership to a certain photography forum. You know, that fabulous one that starts with "click" and ends with "moms".

Yeah, I just said that.

For real.

I could tell you the dollar value of this prize. But the honest truth? It's priceless.

Soon!

Clickin' Moms

Is it weird that I've never heard of clickin moms? Or if I saw it never paid attention to it? Weird....

Sounds like my kind of group.

Those are my kind of flowers.... ones that you can eat! ;)

only you would be so amazing to grow strawberries inside...and without the intentions? They are beautiful!!

Yay for fresh berries! :D

Ours are outside... where they're supposed to be. ;) Although, we don't have any red ones yet.

Indoor berries for the win! :D

Yum! But ya know, I think I enjoy photographing strawberries more than eating them. Okay, maybe not.

How cool is that.. Strawberries don't grow to good here in the desert.. But if you take good care of them they will grow.

Gorgeous berries and I bet just as yummy as they were beautiful.

Hello, YUM! They look scrumptious. Much better than my non-existent berries on the plants I planted outside.

Beautiful photos, too!!

P.S. thanks for the bedtime sympathy. our bedtime struggles tend to be pretty cyclical these days. fortunately my forget-the-sheets-in-the-washing-machine fiasco happened during the easy part of the cycle, so bedtime wasn't so bad. ask me again in another few weeks and it will be an entirely different matter. :)

what a super cool treat! It sounds like something that would be offered at a fancy restaurant "get yourself a bowl of oatmeal or cereal and then pick our strawberries and add them with a splash of cream"

I'm sure they tasted as scrumptious as they look!

Absolutely precious. My one regret this growing season is that I did not include strawberries. Wonderful pictures. What a sweet surprise.
