That light in black and white

Scavenger Hunt at Ashley's!

1. Inspired by a Book or Movie

Grandma and Grandpa went to Alaska. Grandma and Grandpa took our little video camera along. Grandma and Grandpa showed our kiddos lots of cool movies they made, including... tugboats.

These two are headed out for a ride in their tugboat. I wanted to come too.

2. Brown

This is the best dog ever.

brown girl

Except when she chews the trim off our house and kills fawns and destroys my broccoli plants and steals bread from the chickens and digs holes where I least expect them and eats the neighbor's cats and gets sprayed by skunks.

What a life.

Yeah. Otherwise she's pretty awesome. And pretty photogenic too.

3. Hazy

Mmmmm... warm hazy late September afternoon sunshine... And, oh, what's that? My kids are not only playing together nicely, but they're actually having a smashing good time? Yes, thank you. I will.

That light in black and white? Yes. Yes I will.

4. Coffee or Tea

I'm not a coffee or tea drinker, but once in awhile I add a pinch of that instant coffee stuff to my hot cocoa.

5. Linger

After church... the kids drag their feet through the gravel, hide in the bushes, and hunt whatever small creatures they can find. The wind and sun are both strong. We linger.

oh, oh, OH! LOVE "that light" in B&W! Esp the one with the poor kitten getting taken for a ride. :)

And oh, yes, I wish you could come visit, too (or vice versa)!

p.s. how's the film shooting going? do you like it?

Great set of shots, especially like the "dog" and the kids in the wagon. Love the light!!

Jess, you are one amazing photographer, my friend! Love each and every one of these shots!
We have a chocolate lab who has many of the same tendencies as yours except for eating fawns she eats light bulbs and Christmas bulbs. And she has trenches big enough in our back yard to swallow up a small child. Seriously!

This is a wonderful set...and like you I don't drink coffee or tea but I do love my cocoa. Also your photo of your dog is beautiful.

Jess, your photos are always mesmerizing in their simple & honest beauty. I love stopping by your blog for that very reason.

Your dog does look like a good dog. :-) I also love that your church reminds me exactly of a country church I used to play substitute piano /organ at for Sunday services.

I love how the Bean's hair is flying in the first wagon picture. I just love flying hair catching the sunlight, and hers is especially beautiful!

Your dog eats cats??? Yeah, other than that, a smashing good dog! LOL

Love the hazies and the church... which looks a bit hazy too. ;)

The church shot is purposely oof because I had no plan to get model releases for all those people. I have issues with posting pics of other people online without their permission. Fuzzy blurry bodies in the distance? I'm cool with that.

I came by here because of your profile thumbnail on Ashley's site. I'm so glad I did. What a wonderful set of a wonderful life. There is a quote by Thomas a Kempis that says, "Would to God that we would live one day well." It looks like you live your days well. Thanks for letting us have a peek.

My dog just fell in love with yours... They've got lots in common ;D I looooove your hazy shots. And, capturing one's kids playing nicely...priceless!

Your hazy photos took my breath away! You captured the word hazy but you also captured my heart with those sweet, happy faces. They stir up distant memories of happy evenings spent in a wagon just like that :)

Dear Jess,

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my set. You made my waitress picture so much bigger for me. Your attention to detail made me see her better.

Welcome to Ann's gratitude community. I am just about to connect with her and post my Monday list.

Hugs to you and yours,
Dawn

Such a great collection of pictures! I love your hazy black and white shots. (Especially the one where the kitty gets a ride too!)

The brown one is my favorite......I love dogs!

The hazies are lovely but I think I like your coffee/tea one the best. With the mug on it's side and the grounds spilling out it kind of says without words what you said . . . "I don't drink coffee"

Brilliant interpretation Andrea! I wish I'd thought of it!

I loved all your photo choices! Children and animals... lingering after church...and of course your tipped coffee cup. Creative! I so enjoyed visiting here

You don't drink coffee or tea?!?!!? Friend, do you know what you are missing? (other than caffeine related health issues)

And your dog. When I first read "best dog ever" I paused and lamented to myself, "I want a good dog. Probably not gonna find one of those in my 6 1/2 month German Shepherd." And then I read the paragraph after that, and sighed a small sigh of relief that maybe, just maybe, my dog is not demon possessed.

And I can I come on the tug boat, too?

Wow. I love that coffee shot. I'm going to have to try to start shooting stuff like that. I don't know how you make that coffee mug look so awesome. I like the tugboat shot, too. It made me smile. But there's just something about that spilled mug...
