Many of my blogging friends are sneezing and posting photos of tulips and cherry blossoms and green grass. I look out my window and I know they must live on another planet. That can't be real.
We've reached the point where a little sunshine, out of the wind, is starting to feel really good. To all of us. No matter how cold it is outside.

I don't know if we're extra-tough or hardy souls to live here, or maybe we're just insane.
But I do know this...

We'll get our revenge this summer. We do nearly every year.

Awesome! Our time is coming! I can hardly wait! We are insane to live in this freezer but your pictures make it beautiful!
Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. After seeing the Facebook statuses of friends out East talking about their balmy weather all week, I have officially reached the tired-of-winter place. BUT! Our summer will be lovely and DRY- none of that utterly oppressive humidity!
We live on the Same Planet. I'm so ready for spring! Which, according to the weather we've been having lately, will get here about... oh... mid-August. :P However cold it is, your photos of it are bee-yoo-tee-ful! Awesome landscapes! And kitty is beyond cute... even just his paws!
Gorgeous pictures!! I can well imagine how tired you've grown of the perpetual white landscape, but how eloquently you detail and discuss it...and, at the end, your optimism still shines through. :-)
I hear ya. Every point. It's exhausting.
You're pictures, however, make it seem not too bad.
But I look outside at frozen tundra, today layered with a nice crust of ice from the freezing rain, and I scowl.
I want to plant. I want to see my chickens scratching in the yard. I want to see COLOUR!!! Smell the dirt, and yes, that may sound crazy. But dirt smells. Like... Spring.
It's coming. Almost over.....
The blue sky in that last shot is so, so beautiful.
And you are right, Spring in England is amazing, but Summers are almost comically terrible :)

Did I hear right? Did someone say no humidity in ND summers? I knew I made a good choice taking the northern route across country. :)
We hardly got any snow this year and I'm kind of sad about that. Enjoy your frozen tundra. I'll at least enjoy your pictures.
The light in that windmill picture is AMAZING.
It'll be Spring soon. Hang in there!
I've lived where there are barely two distinct seasons, and I've lived here in ND where there are four - albeit one of the seasons is a L-O-N-G one - but I have to tell you, I much prefer living where I can experience four seasons. Surviving each one makes me appreciate the others. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love the variety each offers - and trying to find the beauty in the difficult is what makes North Dakotans so special, in my opinion. You are an example. Here we are, days away from spring (at least on the calendar) and you show these beautiful pics of what looks like the dead of winter. After the snow melts, think of how we so greatly appreciate that first crocus we spy, that first crack of thunder , the smell of sweet rain. Ah, life here is good - I don't care what they say! :)
I agree with the above comment! How badly I desire spring by the end of winter leads me to appreciate it so much more than if spring came easily or came when I just "wanted" it instead of when I'm way past those points, to the "desperate for" level. Plus, we're still waiting for a day where we are actually *warm* enough to make a snowman here. :)
Those photos are beautiful. I love that last one especially. Hopefully not too much longer for ya! Happy Thursday :)
You guys certainly do make up for it in the summer because our summers are so hot and humid. So I guess there is a trade off.
I feel so empowered! Yes, we will take our revenge this summer! We might kill ourselves in the process, but we will be vindicated for 3-5 months!
Jess, you make me smile! And I must admit that you still take photos that knock my socks off even though you don't have green anywhere in sight... now that takes SKILL!
I love the feeling of your images....they are so crisp, so special, that shot with the tree is so cold and isolating and beautiful!
I guess I'm not east enough... ;)
We're in the middle of yet another snow storm. Roads are closed, power outages all around us...
Only a few more weeks, right? It can't last forever... right?
Love the paws, and the windmill pics, too.

I know, I am sooooo jealous of all the spring pics that are popping up everywhere. Come on already!!! This long winter is killing me this year.
Yeah, we're still stuck in winter, here. Come on spring!
I always love your pictures, but I think you've really outdone yourself on these. Just gorgeous... maybe because they help me see the beauty in the winter I've grown so weary of. But... spring is definitely in the air today; I can smell it!
We have not so much the snow, (although I say that, it DID snow just a day or so ago. Didn't stick, however), but we get rain. And more rain. And some rain, and showers. Then it sprinkles. Then for variety, there's a downpour. So, yes, while it's not snow, I understand the feeling...
Cat
another foot?! i guess i shouldn't be complaining about a measly little dusting. ;)
Alright then, I'm holding you to this because we still have a awful lot of snow here with more predicted!
I lost you in the "move" I think....off to fix that! Great photos :)
